Performance and insight analyst

Full time Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours a week; Hybrid working approach (working from the Birmingham office once a week)

This role is a key part of the Financial Planning & Analysis team, reporting to the FP&A Manager and is focused on providing both financial and portfolio insight to the business to support the company’s risk and governance framework.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

You will work closely with our Data Management function and other stakeholders to produce meaningful insight to the business including product, operational and customer performance.

The role will involve creating refreshable reports using our established data lake and other sources, to produce visuals and management information based on business requirements that are simple to understand and can drive positive change.

You will also be required to develop and maintain a Key Item Database which will require a good understanding of energy industry non-financial metrics and measures (such as consumption, meters and product types).

The Key Item Database will serve as the cornerstone for insight, analysis and reporting for the business, therefore it is important to deliver excellence in terms of internal customer service.

YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Working with the Finance team to identify and quantify areas of functional risk by creating and using data models.
  • Develop a key data item database and support with agreed methodologies and principles for use as a credible data source for business analysis requirements.
  • Maintenance of the key item database, implementing controls and updating principles to ensure the data reported is accurate and assured.
  • Managing internal stakeholders and their requirements and delivering high levels of internal customer service.
  • Production and presentation of professional data visualizations using various applications as required.
  • Analysis and presentation of portfolio financial performance throughout the customer lifecycle and report on variances to the strategic business plan and other timepoints.
  • Provide actionable insights to portfolio and gross margin performance.
  • Production of financial management information and delivery of key insights to various stakeholder levels.
  • Management of the company KPI reporting process, including:
    • Capturing operational KPI data from the business and consolidating into a database
    • Agreeing and reporting on target performance levels with KPI owners
    • Challenging underperforming areas and identifying areas of risk
  • Support with company governance structure.

Education and Training:

  • Part Qualified studying towards CIMA is desirable, with the provision for study support towards professional accounting qualifications included.
  • Industry experience is essential, as is strong excel and data modelling capability with 2+ years demonstrable experience using Power BI or another business intelligence system.
